What a 4WD pre-trip inspection covers
- Full underbody check — diff breathers, bash plates, recovery points
- Suspension and steering play
- Brake pad life and fluid condition
- Tyre tread depth and sidewall check (especially on LT tyres)
- All fluids and filters
- Battery load test — critical if you’re running a fridge
- Cooling system pressure test
- Wheel bearings repacked if needed
Don’t forget the caravan or camper
Bearings, brakes, and a proper electrical check on the trailer plug. A $180 van service beats being stranded outside Bowen.
